Semira Lucella Haymond was born 2 November 1884 and died 5 February 1895. She died of Typhoid Fever. Semira is the daughter of Thomas Melvin and Luella Wood Haymond. She was 10 years old.

Her funeral services were held in the Seventies Hall. A full house. C. D. Evans and James E. Hall spoke.





Robert T. Harrison was born 25 February 1895, died 25 February 1895 and buried 26 February 1895. He is the son of Benjamin Orton and Ellen Violetta Gabbitas.








James Henry Oakley was born 25 February 1895, died 25 February 1895 and buried 26 February. He is the son of Richard D. and Julia Croff Oakley.

Richard Bird was born 20 October 1820, died 27 February 1895 an was buried 1 March 1895. He is the husband of Emeline Crandall.

His funeral services were held in the meeting house at 2:00 p.m. The house was well-filled. C. D. Evans, Thomas Child, W. H. Kelsey, John S. Boyer and Bishop Hill spoke. All bore testimony of the good life and character, the faithfulness and integrity of deceased to the work of God. Brother Benjamin Blanchard also spoke.

Alice Clegg was born 17 February 1880, died 10 March 1895 and was buried 12 March 1895. Alice died  at 12:00 midnight. She is the daughter of Israel and Verona Noakes Clegg. 

Her funeral services were held in the 1st Ward meeting house at 2:00 p.m.






Hercules Singleton was born 3 January 1853, died 10 March 1895 and was buried 12 March 1895. He died at 5:00 p.m.












Martin P. Crandall was born 1830, died 2 April 1895 and was buried 4 April 1895. He died suddenly while milking his cow.












Mary Ann Wilson Douglas was born 9 December 1813, died 26 April 1895 and buried 28 April 1895. She was 81 years, 5 months and 18 days old. She is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. It appears she was married to a John Spence and a Douglas.    






Eliza Bird was born 10 November 1881, died 25 April 1895 and buried 27 April 1895. She is the daughter of Vernon D. and Mary A. Devenish Bird. She was 14 years old.





Ellen McKenzie was born 6 December 1865 and died 29 April 1895. She is the daughter of John and Sarah Harward Falkner and the wife of William McKenzie.









Willard Straw was born 24 August 1861 and died 27 April 1895. He is the husband of Lilly Whitney Straw. He died of Apoplexy. Willard was brought to Springville for burial from Wyoming.

 Philo Dibble was born 6 June 1806, died 7 June 1895 and buried 9 June 1895. He died at 2:00 a.m. Brother Dibble was supposed to be the oldest member in the Church and was baptized in September 1830 and was 65 years a member.

His funeral services were held in the meeting house at 2:00 p.m. Seymour Young and Brigham Young of the 12 Apostles spoke.







William H. Kelsey was born 21 November 1830, died 5 August 1895 and buried 6 August 1895.

Brother Kelsey labored as a traveling elder in England for 11 1/2 years.

His funeral services were held in the meeting house. David John, Albert Jones, Samuel Jones, Bishop L. Harmer, James Daniels, James E. Hall and Samuel Adams of Pleasant Grove spoke.

Burials 1894

Sarah Jane Trimbrel Hall McAvoy was born 12 December 1857, died 30 March 1894 and buried 31 March 1894. Sarah was the wife of Lucian Hall and Martin McAvoy. She had been married to Martin McAvoy for just one year prior to her death.





Lydia Hall was born 15 March 1894, died 12 April 1894 and buried 13 April 1894. She was the daughter of Joe and Sarah S. Perry Hall. Lydia was poisoned by a black spider.

Rachel Roberson Spafford was born 13 November 1805, died 24 April 1894 and buried 26 April 1894. She is the wife of Horace Spafford. Rachel was 88 years, 5 months and 13 days old.












Harriet Morse was born 13 August 1847, died 28 April 1894 and buried 20 April 1894. She is the wife of Eugene Morse.

Her funeral services were held at the meeting house. A large congregation assembled. John Boyer, C. D. Evans and James E. Hall spoke also of the late Dr. Morse and the family being much respected and his services having been much appreciated among us as a community as an honorable and honest upright man and a good citizen. He died one year last February, and she is buried by his side today--a very much respected lady by all who k new her leaving one daughter about 17 years old to mourn their deaths.








Catherine Houtz Boyer was born 18 September 1816 and died 5 May 1894. She is the wife of Augustus S. Boyer and the mother of John Boyer.













Martha Jane Spafford Fuller was born 24 January 1837 and died 25 May 1894. She is the wife of Sanford Fuller.













Sarah Effie Carter was born 7 April 1878 and died 31 August 1894. She is the daughter of Frederick and Ann Isaac Carter. Effie died of Typhoid Fever.











[Child] Warren was buried 18 February 1894. The child's parents are Amos B. and Caroline Fullmer Warren.

Solomon Johnson was 14 November 1817, died 20 January 1892 and buried 22 January 1892. His wife is Carol Bucksey.









[Male Child] Warren died  25 January 1892 and was buried 25 January 1892. His parents are John and Hannah Davis Warren.





Parley Holmes was born 23 December 1890, died 31 January 1892 and buried 2 February 1982. He is the son of C. Holmes.





Burt A. Thorne was born 16 September 1891, died 1 February 1892 and buried 2 February 1892. His parents are Erastus and Alice Avery Thorne.

Ann Finden Giles was born 2 September 1820, died 30 January 1892 and buried 3 February 1893. She is the wife of William Giles.











Elizabeth Tillotson Whiting was 15 April 1814, died 4 February 1892 and was buried 6 February 1892. She died at 1:30 a.m. She is the wife of Edwin Whiting, Sr.

Her funeral services were held at the meeting house at 1:00 p.m.

Josephine Crandall was born 22 May 1889, died 21 February 1892 and buried 21 February 1892. She is the daughter of John and Julia Sumsion Crandall.

Hannah Butler Palfreyman was born 18 November 1824, died 18 February 1892. Hannah was 68 years old. She is the wife of Richard Palfreyman.









Thursa Johnson was born 17 September 1891, died 19 February 1892 and buried 21 February 1892. She is the daughter of B. K. and Sarah Mendenhall Johnson.




Eunice Groesbeck was born 2 March 1892, died 17 March 1892 and buried 19 March 1892. She is the daughter of N. H. and Kate Groesbeck.




Esther Houtz was born 3 December 1881, died 19 March 1892 and buried 21 March 1892. She is the daughter of Phillip and Sarah Hall Houtz.

Elizabeth Williamson was born 27 May1889, died 5 January 1891 and buried 6 January 1891. Her parents are Joseph and Polly Koyle Williamson.



Sarah [Sadie] Vane was born 23 January 1882, died 12 January 1891 and buried 14 January 1891. Her parents are Joseph H. and Lucinda Clark Vane.



Elizabeth Beswich Bell wa born 11 October 1811, died 18 January 1891 and buried 20 January 1891. She is the wife of Peter Bell. She was 77 years old.












Margaret [Margie] Haymond Brennan was born 4 March 1866, died 21 January 1891 and buried 22 January 1891. She is the daughter of Edward Owen and Harriett Humpherys Haymond. She is also the wife of Frank W. Brennan. She was 24 years old.

Her funeral services were held at the house of Ed Hammond. F. C. Boyer, C.D. Evans and James E. Hall spoke. The choir sang. Bishop N. Packard gave the opening prayer. Thomas Child gave the closing prayer. The remains wee followed to the cemetery by quite a number of relatives and friends. The grave was dedicated by Bishop N. Packard.




John W. Mason was born 27 January 1891, died 29 January 1891 and buried 29 January 1891. His parents are John and Annie Denton Mason. He is buried at South Bench [Evergreen] cemetery and was an infant.



Luke Bird Gallup was born 30 January 1891, died 11 February 1891 and buried 12 February 1891. He is the son of William and Lydia Strong Bird Gallup. He was an infant.




Ettie Rowland was born 7 May 1890, died 16 February 1891 and buried 18 February 1891. She is the daughter of George and Amy Naylor Rowland.

Her funeral services were  held at the house of George Rowland. Brothers Thomas Child, James E. Hall and Henry Bartlett spoke. The closing prayer was given by John M.Clements. At the cemetery James E. Hall dedicated the infant body of Ettie Rowland 9  months old.

Solomon Drake Chase was born 10 April 1818, died 22 February 1891 and buried 24 February 1891. He is the husband of Lydia Thorn Chase. 

His funeral services were held at the residence. A large assembly of citizens were present. Brothers John Boyer, James E. Hall and William H. Kelsey spoke of the long and useful life and character of the deceased--he having lived to a good old age of nearly 73 years.




Sarah J. Johnson was born 16 November 1886 and was buried 1 March 1891. Her parents are Einar and Gudrun Jensdotter Johnson.




Elvira Harmer was born 18 April 1887, died 1 march 1891 and buried 2 March 1891. She is the daughter of Loren and Ellen Tew Harmer.

Mark Oliver Wood was born 5 April 1890, died 6 March 1891 and buried 7 March 1891. He is the son of Garland and Mary Pierce Wood.







Pearl R. Holmes was born 23 December 1890, died 11 March 1891 and buried 13 March 1891. She is the daughter of Claudius and Ellen Johnson Holmes.

Her funeral services were held at the house. John M. Clements, O. Huntington and John Tuckett spoke. John Strong closed with prayer. Her body and grave were dedicated by John M. Clements.




Paul Thorn was born 14 January 1889, died 18 March 1891 and buried 20 March 1891. His parents are Joseph and Sarah Johnson Thorn.










Henry Leon Tew was born 29 December 1890, died 19 March 1891 and buried 21 March 1891. His parents are Henry and Emma Bulkley Tew. He died of bronchitis.







Burton Hall was born 1 November 1889, died 20 March 1891 and buried 21 March 1891. He is the son of Jasper and Evaline Fifield Hall.










Robert Watson was born 19 August 1826, died 21 March 1891 and buried 23 March 1891. He is the husband of Eliza Elliott Watson.







Elizabeth Rowland Staten was born 15 February 1847, died 4 April 1891. Her husband is Albert Staten.








May Perry was born 28 January 1890, died 3 April 1891. Her parents are Martin and Eliza Clark Perry.










Virginia Rebecca Scovil was 31 May 1899 and was buried 10 April 1891. Her parents are Lucius N. and Emily Noe Scovil.




Ferol Haymond was born 23 February 1889, died 12 April 1891 and buried 13 April 1891. His parents are Thomas Melvin and Luella Wood Haymond. He died of measles.





Clarence Voyce was born 26 April 1888, died 15 April 1891 and buried 16 April 1891. He is the son of Alfred and Laura Fifield Voyce.



Betsy Hatfield was born 25 November 1887, died 15 April 1891 and buried 17 April 1891. She is the daughter of Joseph and Betsy Koyle Hatfield.



Mable Lowe was born 1 February 1891, died 15 April 1891 and buried 17 April 1891. She is the daughter of John and Annis Barlow Lowe.




Ferne Averett was born 7 July 1890, died 20 April 1891 and buried 23 April 1891. She is the daughter of Hardy and Elizabeth Parry Averett.

Hial Sterling Crandall was born 13 March 1888, died 3 January 1889 and buried 4 January 1889. This was the first death of the year 1889 in Springville.

Margaret Sissell Haymond was born 9 January 1811, died 10 Jan 1889 and buried 12 January 1889. She is the wife of Edward Owen Haymond.

A large assemblage of relatives, connections and friends followed her remains to the cemetery.





Ruth Fullmer was born 7 July 1887, died 26 January 1889 and buried 28 January 1889. She

is the daughter of Alonzo and Luella Perry Fullmer. She was about 5 years old.

Her funeral services were held at the house of S. D. Perry at noon. John M. Clements gave the opening prayer. Brothers B. Blanchard, James E. Hall and William Wiscombe made remarks. The remains were taken to the bench [Evergreen Cemetery] to be interred in the private burial place of John S. Fullmer, Sr. [deceased].




Lucius N. Scovil was born 18 March 1806, died 14 February 1889 and buried 16 February

1889. His wife is Alice Hurst Scovil. He was 83 years old. He was one of the first members in the Church and had always been faithful and true to his integrity.

His funeral services were held at the meeting house at 1:00 p.m. Thomas Child, James E. Hall and J. Whitehead spoke.





Nancy Eleanor Ballinger Hall was born 23 October 1826, died 24 January 1890 and buried

25 January 1890. Her husband is Edward Hall. She died at 2:30 a.m. There was 1' of snow in the graveyard at her burial.

Martin William Bird, Sr. was born 1 December 1849, died 24 January 1890 and buried 25 January 1890. His wife is Harriet Huntington Bird. He died at 10:10 a.m.

Eleanor Manwaring Allsworth was born 18 March 1856 and died 2 February 1890. Her husband is Samuel Allsworth. She died at 2:00 a.m.

Hazel Bird was born 25 September 1882, died 23 February 1890 and buried 23 February 1890. Her parents are Roswell and Nancy Steele Bird.

Arthur Clark died 27 February 1890 and was buried 27 February 1890. He is the son of George and Martha Burt Clark.



Charlotte Taylor was born 21 November 1888, died 2 March 1890 and buried 3 March 1890. She is the daughter of James and Eliza Russon Taylor.




Charles Warner Brown was buried 4 March 1890. He is the son of Thomas and Zillah Allan Brown. 






Jane Clarke was born 20 February 1890. She was buried 14 March 1890. She is the daughter of John and Nellie Huntington Clarke.



Mark Packard was born 1 March 1890, died 15 March 1890 and buried 16 March 1890. He is the son of Dudley and Frances Messenger Packard.



Alma R. Tew was born 2 September 1889, died 18 March 1890 and buried 19 March 1890. He is the son of Samuel and Nancy Mayberry Tew.



Asa E. Hutchings was born 8 February 1888, died 2 April 1890 and buried 3 April 1890. He is the son of Asa and Mary E. Kerswell.

Susannah Garlick Wakefield was born 14 June 1820, died 17 April 1890 and buried 18 April 1890. She is the wife of John F. Wakefield.








Peter Boyce was born 8 June 1805. He was buried 27 April 1890. He is the husband of Olive Pixley. He was 85 years old. He was brought to Springville from Provo.

Mary Nixon Bate was born 15 November 1819, died 28 May 1890 and buried 29 May 1890. She is the wife of Richard Bate.





Alodia Groesbeck was born 7 March 1883 and died 22 August 1890. Alodia died of Dipheria. She is the daughter of Nicholas and Rosetta Scovil Groesbeck.








Ellen Bird was born 13 July 1864, died 6 September 1890 and buried 8 September 1890, She married Edward Peyton 3 April 1890.

Albert Heber Fullmer was born 16 September 1852 and died 7 September 1890. Heber was shot and killed by a drunken man at Clear Creek. He is the husband of Margaret Oaks Fullmer.









Gideon Wood was born 30 June 1808, died 9 September 1890 and buried 11 September 1890. Gideon died at 10:15 a.m. He was the husband of Eunice Childs Wood.






Nora Smith was born 29 January 1890, died 9 September 1890 and buried 11 September 1890. She is the daughter of Joseph Franklin and Matilda Johnson Smith.



Patrick Cusic died 14 September 1890 and was buried 15 September 1890. Patrick died in Eureka, Utah. The Free Masons performed the services over him.




Ida M. Dunlap was born 18 December 1886, died 19 September 1890 and buried 20 September 1890. She is the daughter of Ida Dunlap. They were Presbyterian by faith.










Jacob Coon was born 12 February 1889, died 24 September 1890 and buried 25 September 1890. Jacob died from drinking lye. He is the son of Jacob and Devereau Coon.






James Alexander was born 24 June 1850 and died 2 October 1890.

Rose Robinson was born 8 June 1868, died 17 October 1890 and buried 18 October 1890. Rose was a young woman of most excellent reputation--lately from England. J. D. Reynolds baptized her while on his mission lately there.






Moses Child was born 23 October 1812, died 24 October 1890 and buried 25 October 1890. He died at 6:00 p.m. at 78 years of age. He is the husband of Polly Patten Child.












Zina Cummings was born 5 June 1889, died 25 October 1890 and buried 25 October 1890. She is the daughter of Heber and Zina Wood Cummings.

Thomas Sutherland was born 22 September 1805, died 11 October 1890 and buried 13 October 1890. He was married to Mary Short Sutherland and his son was A. G. Sutherland.














Harriet Luella Koyle was born 24 January 1873, died 7 November 1890 and buried 9 November 1890. Harriet died of heart disease. She is the daughter of Edward and Eunice Childs Koyle.











Lorinda Tew Reynolds was born 11 July 1861, died 9 November 1890 and buried 10 November 1890. She is the wife of Joseph Alonzo Reynolds.


Her funeral services were held in the Academy or Seventy's Hall. B. Blanchard, Bishop N. Packard, J. Whitehead, G. Boyer and Hall were speakers. A large assemblage of relative and friends followed the remains to the cemetery.



Irwin O. Houtz was born 5 April 1890, died 12 November 1890 and buried 13 November 1890. His parents are Joseph Orson and Sarah Brinton Houtz.








Ladell Koyle was born prematurely and lived only 12 hours. Ladell died 26 November 1890 and was buried 27 November 1890. Ladell is the child of Edward and Eunice Childs Koyle.








Edwin Whiting was born 9 September 1809, died 8 December 1890 and buried 10
 December 1890. Edwin was 81 years old. 












Charles Daley was born 21 December 1890, died 21 December 1890 and buried 22 December 1890. He is the son of Charles and Elizabeth Lambson Daley.

Thomas J. Groesbeck was born 10 June 1890, died 21 December 1890 and buried 22 December 1890. He was 6 months old. He is the son of Thomas and Rose Watt Groesbeck.
